Our Lady of the Angels

Our History and  Mission

Our Lady of the Angels Parish was established on October 30, 1993 and is located in the Lawrenceville section of Pittsburgh. It is a merger of the four former parishes:  St. John the Baptist, Liberty Avenue; St. Augustine, 37th Street; St. Mary, 46th Street and Holy Family, 44th Street.

Our Lady of the Angels is staffed by the Capuchin-Franciscan friars of the Province of Saint Augustine and the Sisters of Mercy of Pittsburgh.

Our Lady of the Angels Parish, rooted in a rich heritage of many ethnic traditions, professes the beliefs of the Roman Catholic Church.  As a unified, caring community, we are committed to one another and to the enrichment of the people of Lawrenceville.

In response to our baptismal call, our mission is to make Christ's presence more visible and to be a sign of hope.  We do this by celebrating God's action in our lives, affirming the dignity of each person and joyfully spreading the good news and caring for the needs of others.
