Our Lady of the Angels Parish

MAY 4, 2008 - 7TH SUNDAY OF EASTER
There are so many activities going on here at Our Lady of the Angels.  Here are just a few.

Mark your calendars for Our Lady of the Angels second annual parish picnic in Arsenal Park.  The date is Sunday, June 29.  The day will begin with Mass in the park.  Hot dogs, drinks and snacks will be provided.  Bring your own picnic lunch and lawn chairs.  The time frame for the day is still being worked out and will be announced in the near future.

Fourth annual parish auction is set for Saturday, September 6th in the upper lyceum.  If you have items you would like to donate, please call the parish office (412)682-0929.

Second Annual Art and Heritage Fall Festival is also in the planning stages.  The festival will be held on the former St. Mary property and in the upper and lower lyceum.  Next planning meeting will be Tuesday, May 13th beginning at 6:00PM in Conference Room at St. John Neumann School.

The Word Among Us is a very popular monthly magazine that focuses on timely topics relating to personal, spiritual growth.  The June issue is a particularly good one.  Three very enlightening, inspiring topics are featured: 5 brief articles bring out The Hidden Power of the Sacrament of Reconciliation, How to Get More Out of the Gospels and Complete Catholic Mass and Daily Meditations.  Please feel free to take a copy home with you.  They are free and can be found at the church doors.

This past Monday, April 28 the Bloomfield, Garfield, Lawrenceville, Polish Hill Cluster Team met to further discuss the topic of possible ways to enhance the quality of parish life in our area.  We discussed four areas of that directly contribute to the vibrancy of parish life: evangelization, Worship, Word (Scripture) and Community.  The discussion was lively and “hope-filled.”  Please see the bulletin insert that fleshes out these topics and the ideas expressed.

Our next meeting is scheduled for May 19th.

Thank you for your generous response to last week’s second collection supporting OLA’s Faith, Hope and Charity ministry.  Contributions amounted to $352.25.
