HOME REPAIRS FOR SENIORS
Our wonderful volunteers from SS John and Paul Parish in Wexford are coming back for their tenth year of service to the Seniors of Lawrenceville. These talented people will do some necessary repairs on homes. They don’t do roof work, but will tackle many other projects such as painting, patching, heavy cleaning, yard work, some plumbing and some electric. Call Pat at 412-682-1421 for an assessment and to get on the list. They do their work on Saturdays. The first work day is May 3rd.
STIMULUS PAYMENTS
To claim the Stimulus Payment, you must file a tax return. Normally, certain Social Security payments are not subject to income tax. However, the economic stimulus law contains a special provision allowing Social Security recipients to count those benefits toward the qualifying income requirement of $3,000. Supplemental Security Income (SSI) does NOT count as qualifying income for the stimulus payment.
Those who do have qualifying income can complete and send in an IRS Form 1040 or 1040A. These forms can be obtained at some post offices and libraries.

Poverty, isolation, loneliness, housing issues, home repairs, multiple health problems, transportation needs are the conditions faced by those being served by the Senior Connection program.
The program, since its inception in December, 1977, continues to make a critical, significant impact on the lives of the senior resident of Lawrenceville. During this current year, Patricia Kanavich, Social Service minister and Director of the Program, has served 120 senior in varying ways.
