BGLP CLUSTER TEAM

Update for Parish Bulletins from 4-28-08 Cluster Meeting

At the April 28 Cluster Planning Meeting the cluster team met to "dream" about possible ways to enhance the quality of parish life in our area. The following are the hope-filled recommendations that were made for improving our efforts at Evangelization, Worship, Word and Community:

EVANGELIZATION: the element of parish life which encompasses any way in which the parish continues to spread the good news of Jesus, especially, although not exclusively, through personal and communal sharing of faith.

• Learn from the strengths of each other.
• Organize lay ministry outreach - Home Visitation.
• Initiate multigenerational efforts at teaching and mentoring about our Catholic Faith.
• Hire a Youth Minister for the Cluster.
• Establish a Family Ministry.
• Emphasize vibrant liturgies.
• Consider a Director of Evangelization.
WORSHIP: the element which gives expression to the sacramental and prayer life of parishioners. It encompasses both Sunday Eucharist and other ritual forms of sacred celebration.
• Review Mass schedules for full, active and conscious participation of our parishioners as per Vatican n expectations and our diocesan guidelines.
• Consider the on-going financial expense of training and supporting quality liturgical ministers, especially those in music ministry.
• Provide on-going liturgical catechesis for the growth in understanding of the Church's expectations for quality liturgy.

WORD: the element which proclaims, explains, informs and forms parishioners of all ages in the Scriptures and tradition of the church. It encompasses many traditional ministries of "education" and "catechesis."
• Enhance youth and young adult ministry.
• Ensure quality catechesis for CCD students and adults.
• Collaborate with RCIA formation.
• Consider combined sacramental preparation programs for Baptism and Marriage.
COMMUNITY: the element which draws parishioners together with Jesus Christ in mutual support, activity, and celebration marked by inclusivity.
• Become more aware of multicultural inclusion.
• Motivate and support cluster communion.
• Empower more and new volunteers.
• Promote collaboration among parish groups and individuals.

At our May 19th meeting we will continue to envision hope-filled recommendations for the other elements of parish life; namely, Service, Stewardship and Leadership.

Please continue to pray for the success of our cluster planning.
